Icod por vía oral

INTRODUCTION

What is not preserved falls into the well of what is unknown, denied, and forgotten. That is the lot reserved for experiences, knowledge, or values that we let fall through the cracks of oblivion. Por vía oral (Orally) is a documentary project  aimed at exploring, understanding, and sharing daily life. It is a creative effort to bridge gaps between generations, between grandparents and grandchildren, through a beautiful exchange of feelings, words, and careful listening. This is always carried out in the warm glow of the will to educate and share: the story of a great and admirable effort to overcome hardship.

These stories have become living testimony of our shared history thanks to the students and teachers at the CEIP Enrique González Martín school.

Santa Bárbara, alma de la tierra

Un alegato fresco y honesto en favor de una agricultura que rinda homenaje al enconado esfuerzo de las viejas generaciones que hoy ven las tierras abandonadas o en retira ante el avance demoledor de las grandes superficies. Dramas, emociones y nostalgias al calor de la traída de la pinocha para el estiércol o de la leña para el fuego del hogar, los rebuscadores, cochineros, gangocheras, pescaderas; los rituales de la matanzón del cochino y el apoyo entre los vecinos en las faenas agrícolas cotidianas, todo ello, en el marco de las plegarias a la patrona, Santa Bárbara, barrio populoso de inquebrantable arraigo a la tierra, del municipio de Icod de los Vinos.
