Defending the planet requires a combination of science, communication, and social commitment. To build more conscious and resilient societies in the face of the climate crisis and environmental degradation, it becomes essential to connect knowledge to outreach, the protection of territories, and citizen mobilization.
Scientific research is essential to understanding and preserving biodiversity, but also to translating this knowledge into accessible language. In this process, images, audiovisual communication, and new narratives help to awaken minds and strengthen our relationship to nature.
At the same time, those who defend land, water, and communities from extractive models remind us that environmental justice and social justice are intertwined.
With the Premios Brote (Sprout Awards), FICMEC recognizes the work of those who contribute to generating critical awareness and hope in the face of our current challenges through communication, visual artistry, research, and activism.
