Silvia Torrents and Óscar Tiraida are a duo specialised in combining spoken word and live music. Their storytelling performances are adapted to each audience, and feature instruments such as the piano or guitar. They perform for family, adult, and teenage audiences. They have even performed for infants, for whom they have devised a unique and special space they call “Unibebérso”, their latest creation.
Silvia Torrents has been a spoken word storyteller, teacher, and reading facilitator since 2007. She is also a reading promotion expert and an early childhood education teacher. Her work combines traditional tales with those of her own making. Torrents is particularly interested in Canarian history and in the world of the aboriginal Guanche people, which has inspired some of her shows.
Óscar Tiraida, on the other hand, is a multiinstrumentalist (playing the piano, guitar, and saxophone) and a music teacher.
He has had a career in the live music scene since 2009, where he stands out for his improvisation skills and his versatility when it comes to diverse styles and performance spaces. He has collaborated with numerous musicians and projects, including with the band Warp.
