Fernando Pérez Valdés
A director and writer. He has a degree in Spanish Language and Hispanic Literature from the University of Havana. In 1962 he joined the ICAIC, where he worked as assistant-director to T. Gutiérrez-Alea. In 1975 he made his debut in documentary direction, a genre in which he has accrued a dozen titles. In 1987 he directed “Clandestinos” (Clandestines), which won the Opera Prima Award in Havana. At that same festival he received the First Coral Award with “La vida es silbar” (also winner of the Goya for best Ibero-American film in 2000) and with “Suite Habana”, the film that opened the 2003 San Sebastian Film Festival. He received the Directing Award in Havana for “José Martí: el ojo del canario” (Martí, the Eye of the Canary).
Mercedes Moncada Rodríguez
A Nicaraguan-Spanish film director. A teacher and consultant, she is the vice-president of DOCMA and is a jury member at festivals such as IDFA, Emmy Awards, Guadalajara Film Festival, and Amnesty International, among others. She has been an evaluator in programs such as Ibermedia, FOPROCINE of the Mexican Film Institute, etc. Her five feature films (La Pasión de María Elena, El Inmortal, La Sirena y el Buzo, Palabras Mágicas para romper un encantamiento and Mi Querida España), have been selected in various festivals including Sundance, Berlinale, San Sebastian, Pusan MoMA, and IDFA. She is currently in post-production on Siglo XXI (21st Century) and El Viento de Levante Persigue al Sol que se Hunde en el Mar (The East Winds Chase the Sinking Sun into the Sea).
María García De La Fuente
A journalist that specializes in the environment and sciences, and a historian that has been the president of the APIA (Asociación de Periodistas de Información Ambiental, the Association of Environmental Information Journalists) since 2019. She has been active in environmental journalism since she started working with Europa Press twenty-two years ago. She was part of the team that founded the newspaper Público and has worked in the press office of the Ministry of the Environment and Rural and Marine Affairs. She has taught environmental journalism at the university level, as well as developed various channels of collaboration with different publications specializing in environmental affairs, such as El Asombrario, Quercus and Ciudad Sostenible.

Juan Carlos Moreno
Holds a degree in Information Science. He worked as a producer at TVE-C and is the founder and director of Radiotelevisión 21. He has made numerous documentaries on environmental issues, including Senderos de Canarias (Trails in the Canary Islands), Gestión del Agua en La Gomera (Water Management in La Gomera), Obra de Titanes (Work of Titans), etc. In 2017 he founded “Drones Gomera“, which carries out numerous technical works with drones, including photo identification of exotic flora, leak monitoring in water supply networks via drones equipped with thermal cameras, etc.
Tania Ouariachi
Holds an international PhD in Social Sciences from the University of Granada. She is a professor at the Faculty of Communication, Media & IT, and at the European Energy Academy at the Hanze University of Applied Sciences (Groningen, The Netherlands). She researches the role of new media and innovative educational communication strategies in engaging young people in matters of sustainability, energy transition, and climate change. She is a journalist at Agencia EFE and a communications specialist for the Parque de las Ciencias de Andalucía (Granada), Human Rights Watch (Brussels) and RIMES (Bangkok). Her work has appeared in prestigious publications and international magazines.
Beneharo Rodríguez
A biologist specialized in endangered birds, particularly seabirds and birds of prey. As an independent consultant he has participated in several study and conservation projects around these animals, both in the Canary Islands and throughout the rest of Spain. He is a founding member of GOHNIC or Grupo de Ornitología e Historia Natural de las islas Canarias (Group of Ornithology and Natural History of the Canary Islands). He has also published several educational and scientific articles in national and international journals on various aspects of the wild bird conservation and biology.
