Finding the balance between the ancestral and the modern will bring us closer to a hopeful future, and so we must learn from Indigenous peoples—their ancient wisdom is a priceless asset for humanity. Their example will guide us in adapting to climate change, benefiting not only our national parks and their striking natural environments but also the urban spaces we inhabit. In this process, the role of communicators and educators is essential to engaging young people in the fight against environmental degradation. To achieve this, we can count on those who have channeled photography into a world of love and reverence for wildlife. But we can also rely on new technologies and, especially, video games to raise awareness and create spaces for critical thought.
With the Brote Awards, FICMEC seeks to honor the work of those who actively engage in this fight: spreading awareness and driving environmental consciousness.
