Synopsis

In October 2009, Javier Chocobar, a member of the indigenous Chuchagasta community in northwest Argentina’s Tucumán Province, tried to defend himself and his people from being forcibly evicted from their land by a local landowner and two former police officers. As a result, Chocobar was shot and killed, and two other community members were wounded.

Lucrecia Martel (1966, Salta, Argentina) is an internationally renowned director and screenwriter. Her films, La ciénaga, La niña santa, La mujer sin cabeza, and Zama, among others, are considered key works of contemporary cinema. Her work has been the subject of retrospectives in institutions like MoMA, Tate Modern, and Centre Pompidou. Nuestra tierra (2025) is her fifth feature and her first documentary.
