Synopsis
A young shaman must face her first test—a trip underground to visit Kannaaluk, The One Below, who holds the answers to why a community member has become ill. Facing dark spirits and physical challenges, she must trust her mentor’s teachings and learn to control her fear. An animated adaptation, steeped in Inuit traditional beliefs, and spirituality, ensuring that the story’s authenticity is preserved.
Canadian Inuk Producer, Director, sculptor, and visual artist, he has redefined filmmaking in Canada and is at the forefront of innovative broadcast technology in the North. He is best known for his feature film The Fast Runner (2001), the first Canadian feature film produced entirely in Inuktitut, winner of six Genie Awards and ranked the number one Canadian film of all time in a 2015. Co-founder of Isuma Productions, the first independent Inuit-led film production company in Canada, with his latest film, The Shaman’s Apprentice, he has been internationally awarded (Annecy, Toronto, Aspen, etc.)
