Ecocine Express

Since FICMEC first established its new headquarters in Garachico the festival’s organisers initiated a process by which the space of this Canarian municipality was to become a film set during the days of the festival. This idea uses the audiovisual medium’s potential for generating symbolic territory projection. It digs the need to develop an environmental discourse that moves from the local to the universal and makes use of the pedagogical dynamic that is established between the Tenerife’s audiovisual media students and the professional directors invited to the festival each year. This makes Ecocine Exprés one of the most profitable and longed-for cinematographic practices of our festival.

In 2023, the Portuguese filmmaker Inês T. Alves will be in charge of coordinating Ecocine Express.
